A 1960 graduate of French High School, Cross joined the U.S. Army and served on active duty for three years.  Following an additional three years of inactive reserve duty he was honorably discharged.  He enrolled on the GI Bill at Lamar University in 1965.  He attended night classes while working full time and completed his BBA in accounting in December of 1973 and passed the CPA exam in May of 1974.  He is still affiliated with the firm that he began working for in 1971.  In 1975, he was made a partner and later formed Edgar, Kiker & Cross, CPA’s in 1981.  He stepped down as a managing shareholder at the end of 2008 and still maintains key client relationships and enjoys working with his clients in planning and taxation, while providing accounting and consulting services to many area businesses.

His tax planning practice includes  corporations, partnerships, individuals, estates and trusts.  He has previously served the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants of Southeast Texas Chapter president and on the Professional Ethics Committee.  He is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s.

Nathan Cross is also active in the community.

• Beaumont Firemen’s Relief and Retirement Fund – Currently serving as a civilian advisory member on their pension committee.
  

• Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce – Currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors; previously served as Advisory Director, Board of Directors, Member, Chairman of Fiscal Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
  

• Southeast Texas Chapter of Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants – Previously served various positions over many years, including Chapter Director, Chapter Treasurer and Chapter President.
  

• Woodland Baptist Church, Beaumont – Currently serving as Church Treasurer and Finance Chair; work with Children’s Ministry in Awanas, previously served as  Active Deacon.
  

• Texas Society of Certified public Accountants – Previously served as Chapter representative on Board of Directors, Served on Ethics Committee for several years.
  

• Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas – Previously served as Member of Board of Directors (9 years).
